American photographer Sean Lehman Sean Lemoine captured on his camera rocket enthusiasts from California.
This unusual and dangerous game is especially popular in California. In the Mojave Desert, on-site of dry lake Lusern, the second Saturday of each month are going to festival participants of LDRS (acronym — Large Dangerous Rocket Ships).
The event is held by Rocketry Organization — one of the largest in the world. Participants design, manufacture and launch rockets into the air.
These are not a toy copies: the size of the rocket is about human growth and even higher. They are equipped with real model rocket engines and fuel is burned. The main principle: the higher, the better.
It is an extreme sport. In November 2015 at the festival, which is also carried out under the auspices of Rocketry Organization, the tragedy occurred. One of the participants lost control over its missile and it hit him in the face. This is the first fatal case of the 60-year history of the American rocketry organization.
